FEDERATION OF SQUARE DANCE CLUBS
JULY 25,
2004 MEETING MINUTES
The meeting was
convened at 6:01 pm on Sunday, July 25, 2004, at the
Ala Wai Palladium Ballroom.
1. Attendance:
Federation Chairman and Treasurer. The following clubs were represented:
Square Wheelers and Hayseeds.
2. Minutes: The
Chairman asked for additions or corrections to the minutes of the June 20,
2004 meeting. There being none, the minutes were accepted as submitted.
3. Treasurer’s Report:
The balance as of July 25, 2004 is $6,111.45. The Treasurer’s report was
accepted as submitted.
4. Committee Reports:
State Festival – Buster
reported that Dan Preedy, one of the callers scheduled for the 40th
Festival, requested a contract. Buster will send one to him.
5. Correspondence:
None
6. Old Business:
Tax Filing - Dave Lemon
reported that the IRS has agreed to waive the penalty for late filing.
Federation Picnic –
Alternative sites were explored because the only open dates for Bellow Beach
Park are on Sunday. No other sites were found. We will go forward with the
scheduled date of August 15 at Bellows. Charge for attendees will stay the
same as last year - $2.00. Norma Forbes volunteered to have a sign up list
for attendees to list what food they will bring to the potluck. Dave Lemon
offered to bring the soft drinks and he also will be bringing the Federation
picnic supplies.
7. New Business:
Buster will notify the
Clubs that all individual Clubs are responsible to update their National
Directory Club listing.
8. Club Reports:
a.
High Hopes – the Club will restart their
dances on September 6.
b.
National Convention – Dave Lemon
reported that all went well at the Showcase National Convention in Denver.
He did run out of supplies. Buster Forbes appointed Dave to handle the
Showcase at the National Convention in Portland, Oregon in 2005.
c.
USA West – Tim Voss reported on the USA
WEST 2006 Convention. Dave Lemon made a motion (seconded by Kim Akagi) to
have the Hawaii Federation correspond with USA WEST Policy Board regarding
the heavy expenses incurred by USA WEST Hawaii Convention Chairman and ask
the Board to reimburse the travel expenses. The motion passed.
9. The next Federation
meeting is scheduled to be held on August 29, 2004 at 6:00 pm.
10. The meeting was
adjourned at 6:25 pm.
