The
meeting was convened at 6:01 pm on Sunday, August 29, 2004, at the
Ala Wai Palladium Ballroom.
1. Attendance: Federation
Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Festival Registrar. The following clubs were
represented: Square Wheelers, Pali Twirlers, Tsunamis, Hayseeds, and USA
West Convention Chairman.
2. Minutes: The Chairman asked for
additions or corrections to the minutes of the July 25, 2004 meeting. There
being none, the minutes were accepted as submitted.
3. Treasurer’s Report: The
balance as of August 29, 2004 is $6,055.59. The Treasurer’s report was
accepted as submitted.
4. Committee Reports:
State Festival – Henry Staehle
reported that there are 21 registered dancers. The group discussed ideas
that would encourage early registrations and increase attendance. Flyers
have been mailed out to various square dance clubs and the Mainland callers
will generate interest from their local clubs. A motion was made and passed
to place an incentive on the Federation website stating that any person who
coordinates the registration of 10 persons will receive a complimentary
Festival registration.

7. New Business:
The Vice Chair, Roger Beaulieu
must resign as he is relocating to the Mainland. Keith (Shorty) Long was
nominated as the new Vice Chair. The vote was unanimous to accept his
nomination.
8. Club Reports:
USA West –
Dave Lemon drafted a Federation letter to the USA West Policy Board
requesting they consider making compensation to Tim Voss for his personal
expense of air travel to attend their Mainland based meetings. USA West
denied the request. As of August 21, there are 92 registered dancers for
the Hawaii 2006 convention.
Square
Wheelers – Sunday, September 19th will be a “Who Am I?”
dance. The club will be “dark” on October 31.
Lava Klinkers
– The club will host the Hot Foot Stomp dance the weekend of October 22 – 24
on the Big Island.
Pali Twirlers
– The club will host a Halloween Party Dance on Sunday, October 31st
at the Ala Wai Palladium. All square dancers are invited. Costumes are
welcome, but optional. Pumpkin pie and other treats will be part of the
festivities.
9. The next Federation meeting is scheduled
to be held on September 26, 2004 at 6:00 pm.
